CryptoPunk sold for over $23 million

 

CryptoPunk number 5822 changed hands on February 12th.

The most expensive NFT from the collection to date has sold for 8,000 Ether, which is around $23 million at the time of writing .

The new owner is the CEO of Chain protocol Deepak Thapliyal. The Thapliyal announced on Twitter that he had used the DeFi platform Compound Finance to acquire the rare NFT.

Of the 10,000 available NFTs from the collection, there are only nine aliens. The recently acquired CryptoPunk also belongs to this genre. Does the rare feature justify the price of 8,000 ETH?

The CryptoPunks collection is one of the most successful NFT series ever and boasts some prominent owners. Only recently has the German supermodel Heidi Klum fallen victim to pixel fever.
