A Fake Twitter Account Using the Name of Tesla CEO Elon Musk Turns Out to Be a Bitcoin Scam Once Again. It's not the first time Musk has had to deal with crypto scammers.
Tesla boss Elon Musk is angry again about a crypto scam that advertises with him. Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus posted a screenshot on Twitter and drew Musk's attention to it. In it, the supposed Musk advertises that he wants to give away 5,000 Bitcoin and calls on his followers to navigate to a certain website to participate. On closer inspection, however, it is immediately apparent that something cannot be right with the account name .
Even if the tweet in question has since been deleted, such fraudulent advertising continues to cause problems for Twitter - despite the blue tick that only adorns the Tesla boss' real account. This is by no means the first time crypto scammers have attempted to take advantage of Musk's popularity. One can now even almost say that the Tesla boss has to deal with the topic regularly. The first Ethereum spambots had already used Musk for advertising purposes in 2018. At that time, however, he was by no means as established in the crypto space as he is today. But what should Twitter do to not allow such advertising in the first place? Venture capitalist Paul Graham says :

Scammers are taking advantage of Elon Musk's popularity
In July 2020, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Kim Kardashian , and other prominent figures were targeted by bitcoin scammers in what turned out to be the biggest Twitter hack to date. Last October, Musk himself mocked scammers with a tweet about Dogecoin. Scammers typically promise double the original amount of money sent to them. The South African native turned the tables by making the scammers a much less lucrative offer :
