Sequoia Capital wants to raise crypto funds from 500 to 600 million USD

 Sequoia Capital, one of the world's leading venture capital firms, has reportedly committed $500 million to $600 million for crypto token investments, The Block reported on Thursday.

According to the publication, which cites Sequoia Capital partner Shaun Maguire, the new crypto fund will be the VC's first fund specifically tailored to a specific investment segment.

Dubbed The Sequoia Crypto Fund, the investment vehicle targets liquid tokens and allows Sequoia to be more active in managing the invested tokens. This includes staking, providing liquidity and trading with Sequoia Capital partner Shaun Maguire.

Maguire said this fund comes after a major push by the VC network of creators on major crypto platforms like Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) and other decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.

Other projects Sequoia is considering are Terra (LUNA), Avalanche (AVAX), Polkadot (DOT), and Cosmos (ATOM).

Sequoia aims to fully deploy the fund in less than a year should a bear market hit the crypto space, extending that timeframe to more than a year if a bullish market ensues. As for how much will go into each investment, Maguire said it will vary between $100,000 and $50 million.
