| Hey , Cannabis stocks, like Canopy Growth (CGC) could see higher highs. For one, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer could file for cannabis legalization by April, according to Marijuana Moment. "In the coming weeks, we're ramping up our outreach—and we expect to introduce final legislation. Our goal is to do it in April," Schumer said at the New York event. "Then we begin the nationwide push, spearheaded by New York, to get the federal law done. As majority leader, I can set priorities. This is a priority for me." With many states legalizing its use, cannabis has become a $25 billion industry in the U.S. By 2025, it could be worth $40 billion, added Politico. "And it's increasingly attracting powerful allies like banks and beer and cigarette makers that want a piece of the burgeoning market." It's part of the reason shares of Canopy Growth (CGC) closed up more than $1.15 (15%) today. Two, Canopy Growth just reported third quarter fiscal 2022 earnings, which showed a narrower than expected loss, and better than expected revenue. While net revenue fell 8% year over year, it was up 7% quarter over quarter. "Throughout fiscal 2022, we continued to reduce our operating expenses and capital investments. With a renewed sense of urgency, we are focused on achieving profitability in Canada by taking additional steps to simplify our business and optimize our expenses, while making strategic investments in key growth areas," said interim CFO Judy Hong. Three, we have to consider that a growing number of people want to see legalization. For example, according to a Gallup Poll, for example, 68% of U.S. adults support it. Plus, according to NORML, "More than nine-in-ten Americans support making cannabis legal for either recreational or medical purposes, according to nationwide survey data compiled by the marketing firm Digital Third Coast. The findings are consistent with those reported by the Pew Research Center in April, which also determined that only eight percent of Americans say that cannabis should "not be legal" for either medical or recreational purposes." With time, and a good deal of patience, Canopy Growth could see higher highs. Thanks, PTE Team |
